Copa Airlines Begins Guyana Flights

Copa Airlines has begun twice-weekly direct flights between Panama and Georgetown, Guyana, the carrier announced.

The service, which launched last month, makes Guyana the carrier’s 30th destination in South America.

The Guyana flights will depart from Panama’s Tocumen International Airport on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the return flights on the same days.

“We are excited with the implementation of these new destinations. With our flight to Georgetown, we hope to boost a great amount of opportunities for the business and tourism sectors of Guyana, which will be connected like never before with all of Latin America and the Caribbean,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines.

The company said the new service to Georgetown was the longtime dream of late Copa pilot and Guyana native Captain Krish Persaud, who trained many of the pilots who work for the company today.

“Thanks to the work undertaken by Captain Persaud in Panama, we can today count with a professional and experienced team of pilots, many of them whom are a fundamental part of the world class service that we strive for to provide on a day to day basis to all of our passengers,” Heilbron said.
