Dominica’s Big Health Plans

Dominica has big plans in the country’s health sector, according to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

Five years after the country made health care free for those under 18 and over 60 years of age, the country is on a new health push.

“In this new term we intend to introduce a national health insurance system for all Dominicans, in collaboration with Pan American Health Organization,” Skerrit said.

The island is planning to build a new hospital in Roseau with the help of China’s government.

The country is also planning a new hospital in Marigot, along with an expansion of the island’s hospital in Portsmouth, under the management of Ross University.

Skerrit’s Dominica Labour Party won a new term in the country’s national elections earlier this month.
