Cancilleres de Caricom se reunirán para evaluar la inserción internacional de la región

Abordan cooperación económica en agenda de cancilleres Caricom

La reunión de Cancilleres de los países miembros de la Comunidad del Caribe (Caricom) se realizará en Barbados entre el 18 y 19 de mayo, con el fin de debatir asuntos de interés de la región.

Los titulares de Relaciones Exteriores de Caricom analizarán los retos de la diplomacia en el actual panorama mundial, así como la cooperación con otros países en materia económica.

Los acuerdos de esta reunión serán presentados el próximo 4 de julio en Granada, sede de la Cumbre de jefes de Estado y de Gobierno del organismo internacional.

La Caricom está integrada por Antigua y Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belice, Dominica, Granada, Guyana, Haití, Jamaica, Montserrat, San Cristóbal y Nieves, Santa Lucía, San Vicente y las Granadinas, Suriname y Trinidad y Tobago.

En calidad de Estados asociados figuran Anguila, Bermudas, Islas Vírgenes Británicas, Islas Caimán, Islas Turcas y Caicos; y como observadores Aruba, Colombia, Curazao, México, Puerto Rico, República Dominicana, San Martín y Venezuela.

Barbados to host COFCOR Meeting

Ministers of Foreign Affairs from across the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will gather in Barbados from 18 – 19 May, for the Twentieth Meeting of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR).

The meeting will be chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Senator Maxine McClean, and will comprise Ministers responsible for the Foreign Affairs of CARICOM Member States.

Following the opening ceremony on Thursday, May 18, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre, Two Mile Hill, St. Michael, at 9:00 a.m., the plenary session of the CARICOM Foreign Ministers will discuss, among other things, A New CARICOM Diplomacy for a Changing International Environment; Post-Cotonou Partnership and the Future of the ACP – Strategic Approach; and The Way Forward on Trade and Development Cooperation with a Post- Brexit United Kingdom.

The Foreign Ministers will also reflect on engagement within CARICOM during the retreat component of the meeting, themed: Community Engagement for Regional Sustainable Development.
