Oposiciones de Guyana y Surinam rechazan resultados y piden recuento de votos
Recuentan votos en Suriname tras protesta del partido de Bouterse
Un total de 21 colegios de Suriname comenzaron a recontar los votos emitidos en las recientes elecciones parlamentarias luego que el Partido Nacional Democrático (NDP), del presidente Désire Delano Bouterse, protestó por supuestas irregularidades.
Esos centros pertenecen a diferentes distritos de Paramaribo -la capital del país- y sus cifras parciales le dan la victoria al NDP solo con dos puntos de ventaja sobre la coalición opositora V7, su principal contrincante en los comicios del pasado día 25.
La agrupación política presentó ayer una carta de protesta por esos resultados, denunció supuestas malas prácticas en el escrutinio y solicitó recontar las papeletas en esta jornada.
Pero el líder de V7, el exjefe de la Policía Chandrikapersad Santokhi, se quejó y dijo que también protestará contra la solicitud del NDP.
Según los datos provisionales del sufragio, el partido de Bouterse es el ganador al conseguir 26 de los 51 escaños de la Asamblea Nacional, la cantidad suficiente para controlar ese órgano legislativo.
V7 obtuvo 17 curules y el bloque Combinación Alternativa aseguró los restantes puestos.
El NDP llegó a las elecciones como favorito y logró su propósito de ser el primer partido en la historia de Suriname que domina el parlamento unicameral sin establecer alianzas con otras fuerzas políticas.
Pero ahora Bouterse necesita el apoyo de 34 diputados para la designación oficial como jefe de Estado y formalizar así su reelección, lo cual conllevará a establecer negociaciones con las bancadas opositoras.
Ook OKB zou aan hertelling doen

Nog voordat de NDP kwam met protesten, waren er al heel wat fouten ontdekt», zegt OKB-voorzitter Jennifer van Dijk-Silos aan Starnieuws.
De NDP heeft bezwaar aangetekend tegen de gang van zaken op 21 stembureaus in diverse ressorten. Het hoofdstembureau had aangegeven dat er veel fouten zijn geconstateerd. Van sommige stembureaus was geen proces-verbaal aanwezig. Tijdens het verwerken van stemmen waren sommige stembureaus al aan de kant gezet. Silos zegt dat Paramaribo tot woensdag nog niet begonnen was met het verwerken van de stemmen, omdat er diverse fouten ontdekt werden.
«Wij zouden als OKB ook bij enkele stembureaus aan hertelling doen», deelt Silos mee. Nadat de voorzitter van het hoofdstembureau, districtscommissaris Jerry Miranda, had besloten dat hertelling zou plaatsvinden, heeft de OKB-voorzitter ook enkele stembureaus aan de lijst toegevoegd. De NDP had 21 stembureaus op de lijst. Uiteindelijk is besloten om 38 stembureaus opnieuw te tellen. Zondagavond zijn tien stembureaus afgerond. Behalve de stembiljetten voor de kandidaten van De Nationale Assemblee, zijn die van de ressortraden opnieuw geteld. De verschillen tot nu toe zijn niet noemenswaardig.
GECOM will recount votes if ordered by the court –Surujbally
CALLS from the Indian Arrival Committee for an immediate, impartial and independent International Forensic Audit of the May 11th, 2015 General and Regional Elections in Guyana have not been raised officially with the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).This is according to the Commission’s Chairman, Dr. Steve Surujbally, who added that the Carter Center, from which the IAC is seeking support to advance its call, has not contacted the Commission.
“The Carter Center has not approached GECOM,” he said to the Guyana Chronicle, in an invited comment.
However, Dr. Surujbally added that GECOM will act relative to an audit, or a recount, if the court calls for such a move.
“Anytime the law says you have to do it we will do it,” he declared.
In the meantime, the People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) has publicly challenged the outcome of the May 11th polls and is currently in the process of petitioning the High Court.
The PPP/C has claimed that the problems in the electoral process include: the discovery of falsified Statements of Polls (SoPs); the refusal of GECOM to have public vetting of polling day staffers, many of whom were discovered to be activists of the political Opposition; misdirection by some GECOM staffers who advised voters; damaged stamps that saw some ballots not being properly stamped; persons without identification cards being allowed to vote even though their images did not match those in the files of GECOM staff; and the denial of proxy holders to use their proxies, among others.
Recounts were requested before and after the official declarations were made, but these were rejected. Also denied was the PPP/C request for the SoPs, Tally Sheets and a breakdown of results of each Polling Division or Ballot Boxes.
The current A Partnership for National Unity and the Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) Administration scored a close victory in the General and Regional Elections with 207,200 votes, while the PPP/C secured the support of 202,694 Guyanese who cast their votes in support of the party.
