PM Anthony confirms plans to meet with Taiwanese President in Belize

Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Kenny D. Anthony, is to meet with President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Ma Ying-jeou, in Belmopan, Belize this week. Prime Minister Anthony is to leave the island on Tuesday, March 15, 2016

President Ma Ying-jeou is making a farewell visit to the Caribbean, as he is due to leave in May, to pave the way for the newly elected President to take office.

During his stay in Belize, President Ma will meet with that country’s Prime Minister, Dean Barrow, as well as the heads of Government of three of Taiwan’s diplomatic allies in the Caribbean – Prime Minister Anthony; Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Timothy Harris; and Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves.

The Prime Minister will lead a delegation that includes Minister of Health, Wellness, Human Services and Gender Relations, Hon. Alvina Reynolds.

Prime Minister Anthony is scheduled to return to Saint Lucia over the weekend. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Port Services and Transport, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, will act as Prime Minister during the Prime Minister’s absence.
